In order to be legally married in Jamaica, there are documentation and government requirement. Your Royal Plantation Wedding Consultant assists you with fulfilling these obligations and will be assigned to you when you book your wedding. Wedding requirements include:
Residency requirement of 48 hours (also applies to renewal of vows)
State issued birth certificate
All pages of all court certified final divorce decrees
State issued death certificates with related marriage certificates
Legal name change or legal adoption documents, if applicable
A legal translator must translate all documents in a foreign language to English; both versions must be submitted
All legally translated documents must also be notarized
Passports not accepted
Original/Certified documents are also accepted, however, documents will not be returned
A notarized sworn affidavit referring to documents specifically may also be provided to accompany photocopy of document
For renewal of vows ceremony, copy of marriage certificate must be faxed to Unique Vacations and the original hand-carried to resort
Please send, via courier service, notarized photocopies (with the notary's original ink signature & stamp) of the required documents for both the bride and groom at least 60 days prior to the arrival date to Unique Vacations, Inc. All documents for both bride and groom must be submitted with a completed Wedding Information Form

Note that as of December 31, 2006 all US citizens are required to show a valid US passport in order to return to the US from a foreign country.
